Visiting Hours:
-
You may visit an inmate at the Lancaster Jail, which is operated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Lancaster Jail, ("the Jail"), is located in Lancaster, California, which is approximately 70 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
-
Because the Lancaster Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the Jail before visiting.
-
IMPORTANT: After about 24-48 hours, the arrestee/inmate will be transferred to another jail. This transfer usually leads to a longer time in jail, resulting in anywhere from 12-24 hours as additional paperwork is conducted. To avoid the extra jail time, we always recommend that the bail bond process should be initiated as soon as possible, so the defendant can avoid the transfer process altogether.
-
Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen are permitted to have face-to-face visits with arrestees/inmates; and, they may visit at any time for as long as they like.
Visiting Procedures:
-
Inmates are allowed to have two 10 minute visits per day. Only two (2) persons may visit an inmate at one time. Children may visit inmates. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. A minor will be counted as a visitor.
-
Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Lancaster Jail. Acceptable forms of ID include:
-
California Identification Card
-
Driver's License (any state)
-
U.S. Military Identification
-
Passport/Visa
-
Mexican Consulate Card
-
Permanent Resident Card
-
Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).
-
-
Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons.
Telephone Access & Mail:
-
During booking, the person being held in the Lancaster Jail may make three free telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages but may make unlimited collect calls once housed.
-
Unless the inmate is a trustee, they will not be housed at the Lakewood Jail for more than 48 hours, excluding holidays and weekends. Thus, you should avoid sending mail to an inmate at the Lancaster Jail.
Personal Property:
-
Any time after arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If property has been entered as evidence, it will not be available for release until after the criminal case is concluded.
